The kids & I were asked to review a new DVD series, by the creator of Veggie Tales, called “What’s In The Bible?“. Phil Vischer has created 8 DVDs in the collection that take you from Genesis through the Song of Solomon. I was especially excited about reviewing this series, because it is the kind of things we watch around here (Veggie Tales is a big deal in this home!) but the kids get a bit tired of watching the same ones on Netflix.
We reviewed the first one in the series, “What’s In the Bible? Vol.1 In the Beginning” This video gives information on the first few stories in the Bible, and things like how the Bible began, and its history.
My kids have a very short attention span. VERY short. They don’t sit down for entire movies, and rarely make it through a half hour Veggie Tales. This movie, however, they sat through! They said they loved the puppets, the colors, and how they talked. Not sure where that last one came from. 😉 The Bible verses are great for the kids to hear, and the puppets are fun and colorful.
I, as a mom, love that they are learning about the Bible in such a fun and unique way! The creator’s of Veggie Tales came up with such a fun, and different way to teach kids life lessons and Bible stories, and Phil Vischer has done it yet again, this time with his own style. One of the best parts about his unique style, is that he did not just stop at the video, but also created study guides to go with the videos! These study guides are fabulous, full of activity pages for the kids, flash cards, and more! I can see how not only would this be a fun movies for kids to watch, but also a great Bible curriculum setup to go along with homeschooling your kids. It is informative, and a very inexpensive price for a year’s worth of Bible curriculum!
