Small Business Friday – Pink Life Photography

I am thrilled to welcome extremely talented Mary, of Pink Life Photography to the blog this morning. Enjoy!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself! (name, husband, kiddos, business name etc.)

My name is Mary Morgan and I’m the mother of 3 kids (all under the age of 4! What was I thinking??) Kennedy is my oldest girl who is 4, McKenzie is my middle child who is 2 and my youngest boy which is a miracle within itself will be 1 on 3/23! I’ve been married for almost 6 years to my amazing husband Johnie.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you!
Hmmm I’m such an open book that people who know me knows EVERYTHING! Lol. I guess people who I just met in the past couple of years don’t know that I have a “famous” half brother.  Eric LaSalle from one of my favorite movies Coming to America! We share the same father, but I never met him in person.
What are your favorite movies or books?
I have so many favorite movies I don’t know how to chose just one, but I classify a favorite movie as something I can watch over and over and over again. And they are:   Bad Boys (all of them), Die Hard with a Vengeance, Coming to America (wink wink), Transformers, Swordfish, Independence Day. I’m a huge action fan!  Ok I do love Dumb and Dumber and Harold + Kumar although I don’t think I should be admitting this in public 🙂
I don’t have a favorite book for the same reason above…only that I would never read a book twice! But I will say that I’m currently reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and its awesome!  And I was pretty in lust with the whole 50 Shades series 🙂
What are your favorite foods or drinks?
Favorite drink is easy…wine! And not the good kind either. I like to keep it simple and get boxed wine!  Food…I love ALL food…but I can always enjoy a great slice of pizza and hot wings.  I love Chinese too but I only like it from my home town in Massachusetts.  I can’t seem to find a place that has all that good ole MSG in North Carolina! Although hot sauce isn’t technically a “food”, I’m pretty addicted to it and truly feel that it makes ANY food delicious!
What does your typical day look like?
Oh Boy….are you ready for this? I wake between 4-5am and either edit, do dishes or put away the laundry. Then I get all 3 kids up and dressed while attempting to make myself look presentable (the latter is surely wishful thinking).  Then off to take all 3 to daycare while praying I can make it to my full time job on time. (I’m pretty sure this has only happened 5 times within the past year). 8:45-5:30…work, work, browse CM…work, work, work.  Then off to rush to pick up the kids before being charged a late fee. Once I get in the door is when the real work begins.  Change diapers, cook dinner, give baths, read a book, bed. …then back to editing!
6. Tell us your business name, and give us all and any link so your website/blog/social media.
Pink Life Photography
Give us a brief description of the business, and how long have you been in business.
I’m a natural light photographer here in Charlotte NC and I photograph families, children and babies. BUT my goal is to transition into the high school senior (girl) market and have this make up at least 50% of my business. I LOVE LOVE LOVE seniors! Don’t get me wrong, I love families and babies for the spontaneity of it all…its so real! But I love seniors for the predictability of it all! For the fashion, the fun, they actually listen to me! It’s pretty awesome. 🙂
What do you love most about having a small business?
Being my own boss! I love being in charge of everything, from marketing and design to accounting, to finance!
What is the hardest part about having a small business?
Staying focused for sure! I have WAY too many ideas for Pink Life Photography and staying focused on one business plan is so hard for me. I want to do it ALL and I just can’t!
What is your biggest inspirations? (other photographers, the outdoors, family etc!)
My 2 favorite photographers of all time are Michelle from Pinkle Toes Photography and Laura Winslow Photography.   I feel like if I ever met them in person, I would ask for their autograph 🙂  Actually when Laura friend requested me on Facebook, I’m sure I had a mini heart attack!
10. Where do you see your business in 5 years?
I see Pink Life Photography as Pink Life Inc. My other passion is event planning and I would love to combine the 2. Hopefully in an awesome south end studio!
