4. Always open doors for ladies, young or old. They love that.
5. You are never, ever too busy to help someone out.
6. A sense of humor is a wonderful thing in a man.
7. So is someone who is kind to others. Say hello. Be polite.

12. Pick your career wisely. It’s something you’ll be doing for the rest of your life.
13. Keep your credit and your teeth clean. You’ll have those two things for a long time.
14. We all make mistakes. The trick is to get back up.
15. Don’t wallow in your problems. It’s an ugly addiction, and soon people will not want to talk to you because of how much you talk about your issues. Talk about your joys.
16. Some days, no matter what you say, your girl is gonna be grumpy with you. Give her a hug, tell her you love her, and move on.
17. You will make mistakes. Graciously apologize, and move on.
18. Life sucks some days. It’s just a day, it’s not your entire life.
19. A person is a person, no matter how much money they have, what kind of job they have, their race or etc. Treat them kindly.
20. Eat your fruits and veggies.

26. Overworking is overrated.

28. Movies night and popcorn are the best. I’ll have a movie night with you any time.
30. Listen to what someone is saying, don’t just prepare your next response in your head as you listen to them. Listen.

40. Set your mind to it, and go do it.
41. Dream.
42. Star Wars. Star Trek. Lord of the Rings. These are “guy” movies you must watch.

44. No matter what you do, I love you.
45. No matter where you go, you’ll always be my Landon.

59. If your family and friends are telling you not to do something, consider their counsel, not matter how badly you want to ignore it.
60. There are some women that can create drama out of absolutely nothing, and they do it routinely. Beware.
61. Be careful when you drive someday. I know you like pretending to be a race car driver, but…be safe.
62. College can be a good thing, or it can not “work” at all for you and your career. Choose wisely, but it’s *your* choice.

10 On Tuesday | Spokane Portrait Photographer

1. Happy Tuesday! How goes it? We have our basement torn apart, Nathan’s heading out for a new job, and my FIL just got back from Afghanistan, so lots of fun things going on around here.

2. I can’t wait to share images of the basement! What a doozy. We ripped down all the wood paneling, and Nathan dry-walled it. We have a company mudding/taping/texturing this week, then comes paint and primer, then new carpets! I’m most excited for that last part, when I can view the completion all the hard work and long hours we’ve been putting in.:)

3. And a belated Happy Mother’s Day to all my readers! Was it wonderful? It was Emma’s 4th birthday, and Mother’s Day, and we celebrated the day with my side this year. (This weekend is with the in-laws!) I have SO many fun pictures from that day, sometimes I’m not as great about photographing family events as I am of photographing clients memorable events. The night before Mother’s Day, I was thinking of how few pictures I have with my mom as I’m older now, and would love to have more. So, without further adieu, a few from our Mother’s Day celebration!

4. My “little” brother and I. He’s so old now, ha!

5. I can’t show you the inspiration for this picture, as they were copying my other brother, and that picture is being reserved for blackmail, but trust me, it’s funny.;)

6. My gorgeous sister with the birthday girl!

7.  This one’s a rare shot too, me and my sis!

8. On a scheduling note, I’m booked out to August! If you are an expecting momma, please contact me still, as I might be able to squeeze you in. The rest of you-you’re awesome! Thanks so much for booking me, I can’t wait to photograph all those gorgeous families!

9. Anyone doing fun summer vacations? We’re camping soon, hooray! I can’t wait to get a vacation with family.

10. Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!

Happy 4th, Emmalia May | Spokane Family Photographer

On each of the kids’ birthday’s, I write them a letter to be scrap booked for later. Today’s is for Emmalia. Her first birthday letter can be found HERE, and her second can be read HERE, and her third letter HERE.

Dear Emma,

Today you are 4. Happy Birthday. Four. It’s a big number. And now, you’re not a little toddler anymore, you’re a big girl, entering PreK soon, growing so fast, and being so independent.

For some reason this is a hard birthday for me. I think it’s because you’re the baby, my “Little Pip”. It’s weird to have you so big, it’s like I was holding my teeny tiny newborn just yesterday…a sentence you’ll probably notice me say every year. You’ve learned alot this year, you’ve come a long way. We started out at those terrible three’s, and have come full circle.  This year I realized how much like me you are. It’s amazing to look in someone’s face, and see yours looking back. It’s amazing to see you grow, to see you learn, to hear the stories you come up with. You’re perfect, Emmalia.

You’re also our class clown. Oh my, your personality has grown, and you are SO funny. The things you say keep me in stitches, the funny faces you make help even the grumpiest store cashier smile, and your stories entrance the elderly neighbor down the road. But my, you are so quiet around strangers. You have to get your feet under you before you will talk to someone, which is so me. But once you do, you give your heart. You LOVE to dance, you dance and dance and dance. It’s so cute. You spin in circles, because of seeing the ice skaters at Disney on Ice with Grandma. You move your hands around, and twirl, and just dance your heart out. You don’t sing though, unless you’re by yourself. I sneak up on you, and there you sit, singing away. So sweet. You’re really not a girly girl anymore, besides nailpolish and “sparkly lips”. You love chasing Landon around, you love Avenger’s and mud and riding your bike, which is so me too. Love that.

Here’s to a new year, Miss Emma, and what may come. Here’s to living life large, and keeping your comic relief going full speed. Here’s to being four, here’s to staying determined on that new bike, here’s to staying tough. Your momma loves you baby girl, very, very much.

Love, Mom
